Each time the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals visits Riverglade MX Park, there is always a massive amount of excitement in the air. This historic circuit has for many years been a great host to Canadian pro motocross, and 2017 was no different. In front of thousands of east coast fans, the riders in the MX2 and MX1 classes put on quite a show. In the MX2 class, it was Shawn Maffenbeier who won both motos and extended his points lead. On the bigger 450s, it was Christophe Pourcel who used his smooth and precise riding style to take the MX1 overall. With just two rounds remaining, the 2017 series is winding down and the riders are running out of time to make something happen. As the riders now prepare for Round 9 in Deschambault, Quebec, we take a look back at what went on in Moncton with some incredible photos by James Lissimore.

The Kawasaki riders were sideways and wide open as they battled for the lead in the second MX1 moto.

Dillan Epstein tried everything he could to try and make the pass on Mike Alessi for the lead. Unfortunately, moments after this photo was taken the two riders collided and Epstein crashed.

Since the series has moved east, Mike Alessi has been a holeshot machine. At Round 8, he lead both motos off the start.

Hometown east coast boy Davey Fraser had the best race of his season at Round 8 finishing up in 6th overall.

With four motos remaining, Goerke’s goal is to stay out of trouble and keep Christopher Pourcel in sight when their on the track.

This summer has been quite an adventure for Shawn Maffenbeier, and with two hours of racing remaining, he enjoys a comfortable 46 point lead in the MX2 class.

Coming off his big win last weekend in Truro, Jess Pettis rode strong at Round 8 finishing right behind his teammate.

Standing on top of the brand new stage at Riverglade Raceway, the top three MX2 riders hold up their very cool trophies.

Since joining the MX2 series at Round 5, Intermediate rider Tanner Ward has been a consistent top ten rider in the MX2 class.

During his second moto victory, the Moncton fans were treated to a vintage Christophe Pourcel riding display.
