As the riders gathered in Sarnia for Round 4 of the 2018 Rockstar Energy Triple Crown Series, all were excited to begin their eastern swing. After three very challenging races out west, everyone was ready for the gate to drop inside the tight confines of the Progressive Auto Sales Centre. When all was said and done, the packed house was treated to some intense battles in both the pro classes, as well as the amateur all-star classes.
Kawasaki rider Shawn Maffenbeier was the big winner in the 250 class as he dominated the main event. Behind him, Marco Cannella and Tanner Ward had to battle hard from the back of the pack to eventually finish up in second and third. In the 450 class, it was hometown boy Cole Thompson who took the early lead and never looked back. As Matt Goerke, Tyler Medaglia and Colton Facciotti battled for second, Thompson rode away to what appeared to be a stress-free victory. It was a great night of racing in Sarnia and James Lissimore was there to capture it all for this week’s Atlas Brace Behind the Lens.

Although he’s just a teenager, Marco Cannella rides like a cagey veteran. Cannella rode great in Sarnia and finished up in second in the 250 class.

It was great to see Cade Clason back racing in Canada. He looked great on Saturday night and will be racing here all summer long on a Sky Racing FXR Honda.

In front of his hometown fans, Cole Thompson holeshotted the 450 main event and rode away to victory.

Colton Facciotti had a rough night in Sarnia and ended up losing ground to Thompson in the Triple Crown Series points.

Matt Goerke came to Sarnia feeling much better and his results reflected that. In the main event, Goerke get off to a second place start and remained there for the duration of the race.

Ryan Lockhart came all the way from BC to race in Sarnia. In the 250 main event, Ryan rode solid and ended up taking home a fifth place finish.

With an abundance of traction on the Sarnia track, the riders could just lay it over and twist the throttle.

With his home being just 20 minutes away from the Sarnia arena. Cole Thompson got the loudest cheers during opening ceremonies.

Although the dirt was soft and sticky in Sarnia, the track layout was good and the racing was exciting.
