Red Bull Outliers Is A Massive Success

Colton Haaker wins inaugural Red Bull Outliers prologue in front of packed crowd downtown Calgary  5,000 spectators passed through Eau Claire Market to experience the one-of-a-kind event

CALGARY, ALBERTA (September 28, 2019)  — Despite unseasonal snowfall, over 5,000 spectators passed through Eau Claire Market in downtown Calgary to experience Canada’s first urban Enduro competition. The event, brought to life in partnership with Tourism Calgary and the Downtown Calgary Association, featured over 100 riders and brought a unique experience to the city.

Building on the success of Red Bull Rocks and Logs, the Red Bull Outliers course designed by Shane Cuthbertson incorporated over two tons of stone, 100 tires and one dumpster among other obstacles.

The top spot of the day ultimately belonged to California’s Colton Haaker in the pro category.

“If it didn’t snow, it still would have been awesome, but I think the snow made it that much more awesome,” said Haaker following the event. “Canadians aren’t afraid of the snow, and I had a great time.”

Alongside Haaker, competitors included Calgary’s own Lexi Pechout, a two-time Red Bull Rocks and Logs winner, and ex-NHL’er Scott Thornton who drove from Collingwood, Ontario to participate in the event after only picking up the sport three years ago.

Results from today’s action determined rider’s start positions for a full day of racing in Steveville, Alberta on Sunday. Racing kicks off at 10:00 am and will take on three different courses in the Badlands throughout the day.
