Throughout the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series we’ll be reaching out to Cade Clason each week to get his thoughts on his previous round. In case you didn’t know, Clason is back racing SX after a small hiatus from the series. Cade is a popular rider on both sides of the border as he’s also been a Top 5 450 rider in Canada during the past few seasons. It’s great to see Cade back racing full-time and we look forward to his answers each week.
MXP: First off Cade, how did St Louis go for you?
CC: It was a step in the right direction, for sure. I had a few crashes, which isn’t great, but it means I’m pushing my limits and trying to get out of my comfort zone. So even though I hate crashing, it’s almost needed sometimes (laughs).
MXP: This year it’s pretty rare to have Round 2 so far from the West Coast, was the travel difficult for you?
No, it was pretty dumb how they did it but the traveling never bothers me. It’s part of the reason I love racing so much.
MXP: Many wondered how the St. Louis dirt would be with the race being in January, however, it looked like normal conditions for this venue.
Amazing dirt!! It just got better and better throughout the day as well. I wish we had it every weekend.
MXP: Did the work you did between the firs two rounds help you during qualifying?
For sure, obviously a few guys were missing with this round being so far from the West Coast, but still, I was 14 spots closer to where I should have been.
MXP: If there was one or two spots on the track where you’d like to improve, where would that be?
I would say corners, carrying my roll speed while still staying low in the bowls.
MXP: Final question, what will you be working on this week prior to Anaheim 2?
A lot of short sprint speed. I’ve changed some things on the bike as well, just trying to get more comfortable, but I’ve also been working on some simple techniques to try to make life easier when pushing the pace a little bit!
